ASHTON LANE | REVIEW | ONE KISS LATER

The slightly faded remembrance of earlier today...

So today I had the amazing opportunity to go and see, plus review the up and coming country music band Ashton Lane. The three piece band consists of a brother and sister, Jamie and Esther, and her husband Tim but tonight due to unknown reasons the brother was replaced with his father. The music played was extremely soothing, the type of music you would listen to if you just wanted to have a lazy day in bed.

The gig was held in an amazing bar called Maggie Mays on Trongate, Glasgow. Me and Jasmine (also known as Jasmine Ivy Jones, look her up) arrived early to the gig so we sat and had a couple of drinks, the atmosphere of the place was incredible, good old style music playing in the background and people laughing and having conversations.

At eight the gig started but very well! Lets just say the opening support act had no stage presence, they didn't even tell the audience the name of their group AND they where out of tune for most of their set so I don't think they are worth a mention! Back to the actual enjoyable part of the night Ashton Lane, when they arrived on stage they got a warm welcome from the audience which gave me high hopes for this band and I was not disappointed! The thing a enjoyed most about this trio was the fact that the songs they had wrote and sang had actual meaning to them, not just some catchy tune. Just because as in life nothing is perfect there was some downfalls with the band, each time they sang a love song the husband and wife would gaze into each others eyes and by the fifth time they done it, it became a bit gimmicky. I also thought a lot of the songs where the same, not much variety. I also had to wait all night until the last song to hear the only song I know from their album, which was quite frustrating.

Esther and her father.

To finish up, I did really like the band but they are nothing that I've not already seen before, they reminder of the country music stars Lady Antebellum with their music choice and the set up of the group. If you like easy listening country music with actual meaning this is the band for you!
